# Performance benchmarks

Every TechTailors site is built for speed, accessibility, and search visibility, then independently verified by [Google Lighthouse](https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftechtailors.agency). These are live scores from our production site.

100 on a slow phone

## Mobile scores 100

Lighthouse’s mobile audit simulates a Moto G Power on a throttled slow 4G connection, the most demanding test Google offers. Our architecture still scores a perfect 100 in all four categories.

Performance: 100 out of 100

Accessibility: 100 out of 100

Best Practices: 100 out of 100

SEO: 100 out of 100

**What a 100 in Performance means for your business:** your site loads in roughly a second on a phone. That’s the gut feel of an app, not a website. The seconds you make a prospect wait are the customers you don’t close.

> Sites loading in 1 second converted at roughly 39%. By 2.4 seconds, that rate fell below 2%. By 5.7 seconds, it was under 1%. Earlier industry research, including *[Akamai’s State of Online Retail Performance report](https://www.akamai.com/newsroom/press-release/akamai-releases-spring-2017-state-of-online-retail-performance-report)*, has found similar patterns: even sub-second delays measurably erode conversions.

## Desktop scores 100

## Core Web Vitals 5/5

Google's real-world performance metrics that directly impact search rankings. All values are from the mobile audit, the stricter of the two.

**First Contentful Paint (Time from navigation to when the browser renders the first piece of DOM content)**

1.2s

**Largest Contentful Paint (Time from navigation to when the largest content element becomes visible in the viewport)**

1.5s

**Total Blocking Time (Total time between FCP and Time to Interactive where the main thread was blocked long enough to prevent input responsiveness)**

0ms

**Cumulative Layout Shift (Measures unexpected layout shifts during the page's lifespan. Lower is better, and 0 is perfect)**

0

**Speed Index (How quickly the contents of a page are visibly populated, a measure of perceived loading speed)**

## Test your own site

Want to see how your site stacks up against ours, side by side? Our free Website Health Checker runs Google PageSpeed Insights on any public URL and renders the comparison in place: Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO, on both mobile and desktop. Against WordPress and Shopify

## How we compare 3×

The median WordPress site scores 43/100 on Lighthouse Performance. The median Shopify site scores 46. These numbers come from the *[HTTP Archive](https://httparchive.org/)* and *[Chrome UX Report](https://developer.chrome.com/docs/crux)*, which analyze millions of real websites every month.

**In practical terms:** a visitor lands on the median WordPress site, waits roughly 6.4 seconds for the main content to appear, and a substantial share leave before it does. The gap below is measured in missed phone calls and form submissions you never hear about.

| Metric | *TechTailors* | WordPress Avg. | Shopify Avg. |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Lighthouse Performance (median, mobile) | 100 /100 | 43 /100 | 46 /100 |
| First Contentful Paint | 1.2s | 3.8s | 3.2s |
| Largest Contentful Paint | 1.5s | 6.4s | 5.1s |
| Total Blocking Time | 0ms | 870ms | 620ms |
| Cumulative Layout Shift | 0 | 0.18 | 0.14 |
| Median total page weight | ~80 KB of HTML+CSS+JS | ~3 MB | ~4 MB |

Lighthouse and page-weight medians: HTTP Archive Tech Report, May 2026 dataset (mobile, ~2.9M WordPress and ~420K Shopify origins); paint and layout rows from earlier HTTP Archive / CrUX pulls.

Lighthouse 100 isn't a premium add-on, *it's the baseline*.

**How We Achieve This**

Here's the architecture behind the score:

- **Zero JavaScript by default.** Our sites ship no client-side JS unless a component explicitly needs interactivity. No React, no Vue, no jQuery: just the HTML, CSS, and tiny scripts each page actually needs.
- **All CSS inlined.** Every stylesheet is inlined into the HTML at build time, eliminating render-blocking network requests. Cloudflare's edge cache serves the complete page in one round-trip.
- **Page-conditional font preloading.** Each page preloads only the fonts that sit above its own fold. The homepage and service detail pages preload Sriracha (the display font used above the fold); every other page preloads Archia 600 for headings. Late font swaps no longer reflow the LCP element, which saves ~80 ms of forced reflow per load.
- **Deferred hero video.** The background video ships hidden behind a solid-color hero, so neither the video nor a full-bleed poster image does any layout or decode work while the page’s largest text is painting. A tiny script mounts the video on idle (after that first paint) and cross-fades it in, keeping it entirely off the critical rendering path.
- **Cloudinary auto-negotiation.** Images and video are served via Cloudinary with `f_auto,q_auto`, delivering AVIF to modern Chrome, Firefox, and Safari, with WebP and HEIC fallbacks for older browsers. Everything arrives at the smallest size the browser can handle.
- **Edge deployment.** Every page is pre-rendered at build time and served from Cloudflare's 300+ edge locations. TTFB under 50ms worldwide.

Without our code

## Additional verification methods

Our [Website Health Checker](https://techtailors.agency/website-health-checker/) runs PageSpeed Insights and renders the comparison automatically. If you’d rather verify independently, without our implementation of the API in the loop, here are two more ways:

1. Open [PageSpeed Insights directly](https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis?url=https%3A%2F%2Ftechtailors.agency) and enter `techtailors.agency`. Same audit, served by Google, no TechTailors code in between.
2. Or open Chrome DevTools Lighthouse tab check all categories click “Analyze page load”. Runs locally on your machine, with no third-party involvement at all.

Then compare the results against any WordPress, Squarespace, or Shopify agency site, or against any specific competitor you’re considering.

We publish these scores because we believe performance should be verifiable from multiple independent angles, not just claimed. Every TechTailors client site is built on this same architecture.

Wondering how your own site stacks up beyond speed? Run our [free Agency Audit](https://techtailors.agency/agency-audit/): twelve plain-English questions about ownership, transparency, quality, and risk, in under five minutes, with no email required.

## Backed by a guarantee

If any page we maintain drops below 96 in a Lighthouse category, on mobile or desktop, and we do not restore it within 48 hours of your report, that page is free for the month: we credit one billable page at your plan's rate, and a page-type credits as one page.
