# Pricing benchmarks & research

Every claim we make about how [our pricing](https://techtailors.agency/pricing/) compares is anchored to a specific, verifiable, third-party study. All of them are here, in one place, so you can audit the source data yourself.

**Last verified**

**Re-verification cadence**

**Citations indexed**

42 studies across 14 categories

**On link-rot and dated claims**

Each source listed below was verified live and accessible on **2026-10-22**, the logo and brand design studies on **2026-10-21**. Industry pricing pages refresh regularly. If a number on a source page differs from what we cite, the citation is anchored to the dated study identified here, not the live page state. We re-verify every 60 days.

## Foundational anchors

These two studies do most of the heavy lifting on the broad-catalog comparisons we make. Both pull from huge third-party datasets (Clutch draws on 106,043 digital marketing firms; Ahrefs surveyed 439 SEO providers), and both publish their methodology so the numbers stay auditable.

**2 studies**

1. Pricing data from 106,043 digital marketing companies, which Clutch calls the largest source of digital marketing pricing data of any B2B services marketplace. Projects reviewed on Clutch run $10,000–$49,999, and monthly pricing ranges from $5,000 to $50,000. Hourly rates: SEO, PPC and content marketing at $100–$149/hr; most agencies listed charge $25–$49/hr. *Clutch* 2026 Clutch's database of 106,043 digital marketing companies, plus first-party client reviews. [*Clutch Digital Marketing Pricing Guide*](https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing/pricing)
2. Survey of 439 SEO providers found average agency monthly retainer is $3,209/mo, average freelancer $1,348/mo, average consultancy $3,250/mo. Most common monthly retainer band: $501–$1,000/mo. 63% of businesses spend $500–$5,000/mo on SEO. In the U.S. and Canada, 79.1% of providers charge at least $1,001/mo. *Ahrefs* 2023 (updated August 2024) Manually verified each respondent's website to confirm SEO services offered. [*Ahrefs SEO Pricing Survey*](https://ahrefs.com/blog/seo-pricing/)

How we differ

Both anchors confirm TechTailors' broad-catalog positioning: $300–$12,500/mo across 12 add-ons sits within the published competitive band at every tier, and our zero-markup vendor-ownership architecture is structurally lower than the bundled-tool retainers these studies measure.

## Web design benchmarks

Citations supporting our [Web Design](https://techtailors.agency/services/web-design/) service (plans from $250 a month, with a published build rate card).

**3 studies**

1. Clutch's guide draws on 79,260 web design agencies and thousands of first-party client reviews. Its verified reviews put the average project at $38,105, though most projects reviewed on Clutch cost under $10,000. Shortlisted firms charge around $100–$149 an hour. *Clutch* 2026 (updated September 2026) Clutch's database of 79,260 web design agencies, plus first-party client reviews. [*Clutch Web Design Company Pricing Guide*](https://clutch.co/web-designers/pricing)
2. Average web design costs by business size: $6,500–$15,000 for a basic site (small businesses), $15,000–$50,000 intermediate (mid-sized), $50,000–$100,000 advanced (enterprises). The same guide puts most businesses' yearly web design spend at $501–$5,000. Basic (small businesses): $6,500–$15,000 Intermediate (mid-sized): $15,000–$50,000 Advanced (enterprises): $50,000–$100,000 *WebFX* 2026 Averages by business size, plus a survey of 250 U.S. marketing professionals on yearly web design spend. [*WebFX 2026 Web Design Pricing*](https://www.webfx.com/web-design/pricing/)
3. Survey of 300+ web development firms across 31 countries puts a mid-sized business website at $5,000–$20,000. Basic websites and MVPs land at $1,000–$3,000; e-commerce builds at $5,000–$50,000. *GoodFirms* 2026 (updated October 2026) Surveyed 300+ web development firms across 31 countries, April–May 2026. [*GoodFirms Website Development Cost Survey 2026*](https://www.goodfirms.co/resources/website-construction-cost-survey)

How we differ

TechTailors web design starts at $250 a month (5 billable pages on Smart Casual), $50 to $100 a page by plan (White Tie custom), plus a one-time build fee from a published rate card, never an opaque project quote. A 10-page Smart Casual site is $500 a month plus a $2,500 build fee (the $500 Blueprint credits into it; annual prepay halves it): about $8,500 in year one with hosting and ongoing support included.

WebFX's 2026 guide puts an average basic website for a small business at $6,500–$15,000, and Clutch's second web design price band runs $10,000–$49,999 (most projects it reviews cost under $10,000).

We can publish these numbers because the model is different: per-unit build pricing billed by milestone, pay only for the months you use us, every account in your name from day one, and the codebase available via lump-sum buy-out.

## Logo & brand design benchmarks

Citations supporting our [Logo & Brand Design](https://techtailors.agency/services/brand-design/) service (one-time packages from $2,500, with no monthly plan needed).

**3 studies**

1. High end: $2,500–$10,000+ USD, from a design studio or branding agency. Brand identity packages start at about $10,000 with an agency and are typically out of budget for small business owners. *VistaPrint* 2026 (updated January 30) [*How much should your logo design cost?*](https://www.vistaprint.com/hub/logo-design-cost)
2. Most branding projects reviewed on Clutch are around $10,000 – $49,999. *Clutch* 2026 (updated September 21) Compiled from verified first-party testimonials and ratings submitted by branding clients. [*Branding Pricing Guide 2026*](https://clutch.co/agencies/branding/pricing)
3. Brand guidelines: $5,000 – $25,000, a comprehensive brand manual (10–100+ pages) with templates. *DesignRush* 2025 (updated December 22) [*Branding Costs Breakdown: How Much Should You Spend*](https://www.designrush.com/agency/logo-branding/trends/how-much-does-branding-cost)

How we differ

TechTailors' design prices are fixed and one-time: $2,500 for a logo, the bottom of the studio range VistaPrint gives; $4,000 for a brand identity, under the roughly $10,000 an agency identity package starts at; $5,500 for brand guidelines with the logo and the identity in them, near the floor of DesignRush's $5,000–$25,000 for a brand manual alone.

Print and social pieces start at $250 each, one-time. Half to start, half on final files. No monthly plan needed.

## SEO benchmarks

Citations supporting our [SEO Add-On](https://techtailors.agency/services/seo/), from Starter at $500/mo flat through Pro at $2,500–$12,500/mo.

**3 studies**

1. Per-project agency fees average $9,508/mo equivalent; most common per-project fee band $2,501–$5,000. SEOs in business 2+ years charge about 33% more on monthly retainers than those in business two years or less. *Ahrefs* 2023 (updated August 2024) [*Ahrefs SEO Pricing Survey*](https://ahrefs.com/blog/seo-pricing/)
2. Published enterprise SEO tier ladder of $12,550–$23,750/mo. WebFX says it has over 750 digital marketing experts. *WebFX* 2026 [*WebFX Enterprise SEO Pricing*](https://www.webfx.com/seo/pricing/enterprise/)
3. Cites Ahrefs survey data for an average SEO cost of $2,917/mo and Search Engine Journal for ~33% of businesses paying $1,000–$5,000/mo. *Digital Elevator* 2026 (updated October 2026) [*Digital Elevator SEO Pricing Guide 2026*](https://thedigitalelevator.com/blog/seo-pricing-guide/)

How we differ

SEO Starter at $500/mo flat undercuts the floor of the most common retainer band in Ahrefs's survey ($501–$1,000/mo); on-page foundations ship free in the base build, so Starter is a lean off-page entry.

SEO Pro starts at $2,500/mo (the floor of the mid-tier band) and tops out at $12,500/mo. Even the top of our ladder sits well below the $23,750/mo ceiling WebFX publishes for enterprise SEO.

## SEO on-page benchmarks

Citations supporting our [SEO On-Page](https://techtailors.agency/services/seo-on-page/) service ($2,500/page SMB, $5,000/page Enterprise; every 5th page free).

**3 studies**

1. 2026 published rate to optimize 10 existing pages: $500–$1,500 total, at 30–60 minutes per page. Typical output is title and meta description updates, internal linking recommendations, and content expansion guidelines; new content is priced as a separate service. *Wowbix* 2026 Published 2026 industry SEO cost guide. [*Wowbix 2026 SEO Cost Guide*](https://wowbix.com/seo-cost/)
2. Published vendor rates for SEO content writing: $0.06/word (AI + human, plus a $49.50/month platform fee) to $0.16/word (100% human, no platform fee). At those rates a 2,000-word SEO article costs $120–$320. The plans cover writing, editing and fact-checking, not on-page optimization or schema. *Verblio* 2025 (updated August 2025) Verblio's own published pricing page. [*Verblio Content Pricing*](https://www.verblio.com/pricing)
3. 2026 per-page benchmarks for SEO content + on-page work. Local landing page creation: $200–$600/page Blog or article content: $150–$500/post Landing page bundle (3–10 pages): $1,200–$5,000 *Arc4* 2026 (March 2026) 2026 benchmark ranges based on current industry data. [*Arc4 2026 Local SEO Pricing Guide*](https://arc4.com/resources/local-seo-pricing/)

How we differ

TechTailors SEO On-Page is $2,500 per page (SMB) or $5,000 per page (Enterprise), with every 5th page free pulling the effective rate to roughly $2,000 SMB / $4,000 Enterprise.

The data above measures one layer at a time: $50–$150 a page to optimize an existing page (Wowbix), $0.06–$0.16 a word for marketplace content writing (Verblio), $150–$600 a page or post for local landing pages and blog content (Arc4).

Top-tier independent SEO consultants quote $3,000–$5,000 a page for the full stack, with no deadline guarantee. We bundle keyword research, metadata, schema, content writing, and interactive enhancements into one per-page price, backed by a 21-day completion SLA.

## Content marketing benchmarks

Citations supporting our [Blogging](https://techtailors.agency/services/blogging/) add-on: Starter ($300–$1,000/mo) and Pro ($2,500–$12,500/mo) levels.

**3 studies**

1. Clutch's 2026 guide puts the average cost of hiring a content marketing agency at $100–$149/hr and suggests allocating 20–30% of total marketing budget to content. *Clutch* 2026 (updated September 2026) [*Clutch Content Marketing Pricing Guide*](https://clutch.co/agencies/content-marketing/pricing)
2. Most B2B content marketing agencies charge $5,000–$15,000/mo for ongoing work; a 2026 survey of 350+ businesses put the average at $5,001–$10,000/mo. Project-based content engagements: $10,000 for a focused deliverable to $200,000+ for a full brand system build. 38% of agencies charge $1,001–$2,500/mo retainer (Databox research). *Column Five Media* 2026 (updated May 2026) [*Column Five Content Marketing Agency Pricing 2026*](https://www.columnfivemedia.com/content-marketing-agency-pricing/)
3. A SOC 2 audit's all-in cost, prep work and the audit together, is often quoted at $10,000–$80,000+; readiness work alone runs $5,000–$25,000. *Bright Defense* 2026 (updated September 2026) A compliance-services firm's 2026 guide to SOC 2 audit costs. [*Bright Defense: SOC 2 Audit Costs in 2026*](https://www.brightdefense.com/resources/soc-2-audit-costs/)

How we differ

TechTailors Blogging is infrastructure-only: the publishing platform, not the content. Industry retainers bundle content production with infrastructure; ours doesn't, because the deliverable is different and your content stays yours.

## Paid advertising benchmarks

Citations supporting our [Digital Advertising](https://techtailors.agency/services/digital-advertising/) service (flat 20% of spend or $500/mo floor, whichever is greater).

**4 studies**

1. PPC management fees typically 10–20% of ad spend. Flat-fee management retainers $500–$2,000/mo. Larger accounts typically command higher fees due to increased complexity and management effort. *AgencyAnalytics* 2025 (July 2025) Median ad-spend data from 7,000+ AgencyAnalytics users, plus a survey of agency clients on how they charge. [*AgencyAnalytics PPC Management Pricing Guide*](https://agencyanalytics.com/blog/ppc-pricing)
2. Cross-industry Google Ads search averages: CPC $5.42, CTR 6.64%, conversion rate 8.18%, cost per lead $66.69. Highest CPCs: attorneys and legal services ($9.87), home and home improvement ($8.33), dentists and dental services ($8.00). *WordStream* 2026 (updated September 2026) 13,474 U.S. search campaigns run April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026; the averages are medians, to account for outliers. [*WordStream 2026 Google Ads Benchmarks*](https://www.wordstream.com/blog/2026-google-ads-benchmarks)
3. Percentage pricing (15–20% of spend) aligns agency-client incentives. Flat fees more economical for ad budgets under $20,000/mo. Above $50,000/mo, percentage with cap or hybrid recommended. 3–6 month minimum contracts standard. *AMW* 2026 [*AMW PPC Management Cost Guide 2026*](https://amworldgroup.com/pricing/ppc-management-cost)
4. PPC management retainers $1,500–$25,000/mo; setup fees $2,500–$10,000; mid-market accounts $2,500–$7,500/mo. *Stackmatix* 2026 [*Stackmatix PPC Agency Pricing 2026*](https://www.stackmatix.com/blog/ppc-agency-pricing-what-to-expect)

How we differ

Our Digital Advertising fee is a flat 20% of monthly ad spend or $500/mo, whichever is greater. One rate, no tier ladder. We retired the older bracketed 25%/20% structure in May 2026 because the flat rate is easier for everyone to model.

## CRO & A/B testing benchmarks

Citations supporting our [CRO & A/B Testing](https://techtailors.agency/services/cro-testing/) service ($3,000–$7,500/mo).

**4 studies**

1. Analysis of 1+ million A/B tests across 100,000 websites in 18 industries. The page also cites Invesp data showing only 39.6% of companies have a formally documented CRO strategy. *Wingify (VWO)* 2026 (updated September 2026) Large-scale analysis from Wingify's A/B Testing Insights Report 2023. 2. WebFX CRO entry pricing: $1,500/mo. CRO costs $800–$10,000/mo overall, including software and professional services. *WebFX* 2026 [*WebFX Conversion Rate Optimization Pricing*](https://www.webfx.com/digital-marketing/pricing/conversion-rate-optimization/)
3. CRO retainer benchmarks by agency level: Typical range: $3,000–$20,000/mo Mid-tier agencies: $5,000–$10,000/mo Agencies with experienced strategists: $15,000+/mo *ClicksGeek* 2026 (April 2026) [*ClicksGeek 2026 CRO Agency Pricing Guide*](https://clicksgeek.com/cro-agency-pricing/)
4. CRO services overall span $1,500–$31,000/mo, with vertical breakouts: Lead-based CRO: $1,500–$9,000/mo E-commerce CRO: $2,000–$5,000/mo Enterprise CRO: $8,000–$31,000/mo *Tenet* 2025 (October 2025) [*Tenet — How Much Does CRO Services Cost in 2026?*](https://www.wearetenet.com/blog/conversion-rate-optimization-pricing)

How we differ

Our CRO ladder is $3,000 to $7,500/mo in $1,500 increments. The entry price sits at the floor of ClicksGeek's typical $3,000–$20,000 range, and our ceiling sits below its $10,000 mid-tier ceiling. The VWO platform sits on your account, not ours.

## ROI reporting & fractional analytics benchmarks

Citations supporting our [ROI Reporting & Strategy Consultation](https://techtailors.agency/services/roi-strategy/) service ($1,000 / $2,000/mo).

**2 studies**

1. Marketing analytics consultants run $6,000–$14,000/mo, or $175–$350/hr, in Stackmatix's 2026 marketing consultant cost guide. *Stackmatix* 2026 [*Stackmatix 2026 Marketing Consultant Cost Guide*](https://www.stackmatix.com/blog/marketing-consultant-cost-guide)
2. Hourly rates for SEO, PPC and content marketing run $100–$149/hr at digital marketing agencies; broad retainers $5,000–$50,000/mo. *Clutch* 2026 [*Clutch Digital Marketing Pricing Guide*](https://clutch.co/agencies/digital-marketing/pricing)

How we differ

ROI Reporting starts at $1,000/mo for the Dashboard tier or $2,000/mo with monthly consultation. Both run 67–83% below the $6,000/mo floor Stackmatix publishes for a marketing analytics consultant, and we back the data with a $200 credit guarantee on any accuracy issues.

## Analytics benchmarks

Citations supporting our [Analytics & Tracking](https://techtailors.agency/services/analytics/) service ($1,000/mo base fee + 25% service fee on integrated tool spend; tools sit on your account).

**3 studies**

1. GA4 itself is free, and standard properties can export up to 1 million events per day to BigQuery. Google's paid Analytics 360 tier starts around $50,000/year and scales toward $150,000/year at roughly 500 million monthly visits. That's the platform fee alone, before any agency setup or ongoing configuration work. *BabyLoveGrowth* 2026 (May 2026) Compiled from Google Analytics product documentation and publicly available Analytics 360 price estimates. [*BabyLoveGrowth 2026 Google Analytics Cost Breakdown*](https://www.babylovegrowth.ai/en/blog/is-google-analytics-free-full-cost-breakdown-2026)
2. Published 2026 rates: marketing analytics consultants run $6,000–$14,000/mo ($175–$350/hr). The same guide's retainers for marketing consultants in general, by company stage: Pre-seed and seed: $5,000–$8,000/month Series A: $8,000–$15,000/month Series B and beyond: $12,000–$20,000/month Senior consultants, hourly: $150–$500/hr *Stackmatix* 2026 Stackmatix 2026 marketing consultant cost guide for pre-seed through Series B operators. [*Stackmatix 2026 Marketing Consultant Cost Guide*](https://www.stackmatix.com/blog/marketing-consultant-cost-guide)
3. Glassdoor puts a U.S. marketing data analyst's median total pay at $84K a year, with a total pay range of $64K–$110K. Add a 25–40% benefits load (a TechTailors estimate) and a true in-house hire costs roughly $105,000–$118,000/year before tools. *Glassdoor* 2026 Self-reported U.S. salaries on Glassdoor, which rounds these figures and updates them as salaries come in. [*Glassdoor Marketing Data Analyst Salary*](https://www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/marketing-data-analyst-salary-SRCH_KO0,22.htm)

How we differ

Our Analytics service is a $1,000/month base fee plus a 25% fee on your integrated tool spend, billed monthly, with no markup on the tools and every tool account staying in your name.

The alternatives get expensive fast: Google's GA360 enterprise tier alone is estimated at $50,000–$150,000/year before any agency hour. A marketing analytics consultant charges $6,000–$14,000/month (Stackmatix). Hiring in-house means about $84,000 in median total pay (Glassdoor), closer to $105,000–$118,000/year once you load in benefits.

Every TechTailors site already includes GA4 via Cloudflare Zaraz and Cloudflare Web Analytics for free at every tier. Analytics & Tracking is what adds custom integrations and managed configuration on top of that free baseline.

## E-commerce benchmarks

Citations supporting our [E-Commerce](https://techtailors.agency/services/ecommerce/) add-on: Starter ($500–$2,000/mo) and Pro ($3,000–$10,000/mo + 2.5% above $100K/mo GMV) levels.

**2 studies**

1. Shopify Plus Premier Partner publishing a transparent retainer range of $2,700–$10,000/mo, with 85% of clients averaging $4,500/mo. Project work runs $25,000–$250,000+. Typical clients sit between $1M and $50M in annual GMV. *Netalico* 2026 Netalico's own published retainer pricing. 2. Survey of 300+ web development firms across 31 countries puts an e-commerce website at $5,000–$50,000 and 8–28 weeks to build, against $5,000–$20,000 for a mid-sized business site. *GoodFirms* 2026 (updated October 2026) Surveyed 300+ web development firms across 31 countries, April–May 2026. [*GoodFirms Website Development Cost Survey 2026*](https://www.goodfirms.co/resources/website-construction-cost-survey)

How we differ

E-Commerce Starter is for merchants who sit below Netalico's $2,700/mo floor: $500/mo at T1 for stores under $50K annual revenue.

E-Commerce Pro T1 is $3,000/mo nominal, but Premium Hosting is included ($750/mo value), so your effective net is $2,250/mo, putting our floor below Netalico's published entry tier.

## Search benchmarks

1. The SaaS procurement marketplace Vendr ([vendr.com](https://www.vendr.com/)) tracks 144 Algolia purchases. The median lands at $41,650/year, with a published range of $12,413 to $260,594/year. 4. The SaaS procurement marketplace Vendr ([vendr.com](https://www.vendr.com/)) tracks 151 Elastic purchases (the Elastic Stack: Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats and Logstash, self-managed or on Elastic Cloud). The median lands at $77,302/year, with a published range of $23,000 to $370,671/year, before any engineering to build site search on it. *Vendr* 2026 (February 2026) 151 Elastic purchases tracked in Vendr's marketplace data. [*Vendr 2026 Elastic Marketplace Pricing*](https://www.vendr.com/marketplace/elastic)

How we differ

Our Search Integration is $2,000 to $5,000/month by tier (Standard, Growth or Enterprise), and that fee covers setup, schema design, indexing, and ongoing tuning. The vendor cluster itself sits on your account, not ours.

The Vendr marketplace data above tracks 144 real Algolia purchases at a median of $41,650/year, with the high end past a quarter-million. That's the Algolia platform license alone, before any setup or agency time.

We default to Typesense Cloud (HIPAA-eligible, single-tenant clusters, 720 free hours one time, no record limits). Algolia is what we reach for when you need AI-powered ranking or behavioral personalization that Typesense can't match.

How we differ

TechTailors Multi-Language Support is $4,000/month for your first language and $2,000/month for each additional, all-in, including Crowdin setup, translation memory, hreflang management, locale-aware routing, and (at 6+ languages) BigCommerce Multi-Storefront orchestration.

Vendr's marketplace tracks 130 Smartling purchases at a median of $60,450/year, and Vendr notes most Smartling contracts bundle the platform with per-word translation. Smartling's own 2026 rate guide pegs human translation at $0.15–$0.30/word and its AI translation with human post-editing at $0.12/word. Crowdin's TMS fee starts at $50/month (Pro, billed annually) and scales to $450/month at Team+.

We bundle the orchestration, integration, and SEO layer; translation budget remains a separate per-word line item that scales with your content volume.

How we differ

TechTailors Premium Hosting is $750/month Business or $1,500/month Enterprise, a labor fee for Cloudflare migration, WAF / DDoS / PCI DSS / SOC 2 / HIPAA / GDPR setup, monitoring, and reporting.

SpendHound's 531-customer dataset puts average Cloudflare spend at $775,912/year (about $64,659/month) for Enterprise customers, with SMB customers averaging $51,331/year.

The Cloudflare CDN itself sits on your billing, not ours, so the only number on your TT invoice is the $750–$1,500 labor fee.

## Methodology: how we use these citations

Each service page on the site cites a curated subset of these studies in its *Industry Benchmarks* section. We follow four conventions across every citation:

1. Year-cited Every claim names the year of the study ("2026 ClicksGeek CRO Pricing Guide", not "ClicksGeek's CRO guide") so each citation is auditable.
2. Specific finding pulled into our copy We quote the exact number we're citing rather than relying on the source page's live state. If the source page later changes its number, our citation is still anchored to the dated study identified here.
3. Multi-source triangulation Where possible we pair a Tier 1 anchor (Ahrefs, Clutch, AgencyAnalytics, VWO, Netalico) with a vertical-specific or triangulating reference for compounded authority.
4. Vendor-ownership differentiator Every benchmark we cite has tool licenses bundled into the agency's fee. TechTailors' labor-only pricing is structurally lower than the bundled equivalent per our vendor-account-ownership architecture: every page that cites a study explicitly calls this out.

**The structural advantage**

Industry benchmarks measure what agencies *charge*: fees that bundle Semrush, VWO, Crowdin, Cloudflare, Stripe, BigCommerce, and other tool licenses into a single invoice. TechTailors charges for labor. Every third-party tool sits on *your* billing: no markup, no agency-locked accounts, no goodbye-fee on offboarding. That's why our published prices look lower than the retainers in the studies above: the comparison is apples-to-apples only if you're already separating tool spend from agency spend on your own books.

## Sources we deliberately don't cite

Some industry sources turn up in third-party syntheses but are paywalled, based on small samples, or no longer directly verifiable. We don't cite these on public pages without re-verifying first:

- Forrester, G2 and Gartner enterprise pricing reports Typically paywalled, so we don't cite them without owning a copy.
- HubSpot's 2025 Agency Growth Report Referenced in third-party syntheses, but the original URL has shifted. We'd re-verify it before citing.
- Search Engine Journal's State of the SEO Agency Report The source itself is paywalled (sign-up required). We cite Digital Elevator's summary instead.
- Convertica, CRO Metrics and Conversion Sciences pricing Mentioned in CRO agency overviews, with no published rate cards. We don't cite specific dollars without a primary source.
